Check Up

Eden had her 2 month checkup yesterday. These are her stats:

Weight: 11 lbs
Height:22.5 inches
Head circumference:38 cm

She is in the 50th% all across the board. Everything checked out just fine. I am really grateful that she is doing so well.

She has been stuffy lately and it got worse last night. Couple that with a fever and sore legs from her shots and it was not a fun evening. I attempted to sleep with her on my chest sitting up in the recliner in the nursery in hopes that that would help her breathe. It did seem to help her a bit but I didn't sleep a wink. She was just so pathetic though. Her fever finally broke around 6:00 this morning so I was able to get a little sleep until Noah woke up at 7:00. I am counting down the hours until it is Noah's nap time so I can crash with him.

Ah, the joys of motherhood!

Clueless Captivity

I have been going through a purging phase lately. The clutter that has built up in my house over the last year is driving me insane. So, I have made it my goal to get rid of everything that I have not used in the last 6 mos. This is going to be a very long process but I am determined!

This morning I was going through a trunk full of books and organizing them and putting most in a box to be donated to the library. Noah was determined to "help" by taking every book I put in the box and distributing them randomly throughout the house. Counter productive to say the least. Finally, after threats and even a swat weren't enough to convince him his "help" was not needed, I got smart. I decided he needed to be CONTAINED! I strapped him in the highchair, turned on cartoons, and gave him plenty of snacks and crafting supplies. HA! It worked like a charm. He didn't even realize he was being held captive and I was able to continue my sorting in unassisted bliss. Ahhhhhh!

What To Do

Noah had an appointment with an ENT (ear, nose, and throat) today because he has had 5 ear infections in less than a year. He recommended having the tubes put in. He said that it is an outpatient procedure, it takes about 10 minutes, and that most kids tolerate it really well.

It seems like an easy, breezy kind of thing so I don't really know why I am so worried about it. The ear infections don't really seem to bother Noah so much but what really bothers me is all of the antibiotics that he has had to be on in the last year. I'm probably over thinking it.

Have any of you had to have your kids get the tubes? How'd the procedure go? How did your kid react? What kind of restrictions are there? (Should have thought to ask the doc that last question but it was Noah's nap time and he was being a pill!) Any advice?

2 Months

Yesterday was Eden's 2 month b-day. I am going to try to be better about documenting the "little" things that she does. I was never that great with Noah and it breaks my heart to think that I may have forgotten something.

Eden is much more alert lately. She is less content to just hang out in her bouncy seat. She prefers to lounge propped up in her boppy pillow with her brother dancing a jig around her. She is gaining some pretty good head control as she tries desperately to follow her big brother's every move. I think they are gonna be good buddies, if she can keep up with him.

She has her 2 month checkup later this week but I don't need a scale to tell me that she is fattening up. I nibble on the yummy chubbiness of her adorable cheeks at least a million times a day. I just can't help myself. She is also getting longer though she still has a little ways to go to fill out her cute tights and leg warmers. I can't wait!

Her tongue still is forever making an appearance. I have never seen a baby with such an active tongue. Alisha captured about a million pictures of her tongue during our photo shoot because it was ALWAYS sticking out. Noah finds it amusing to try to "catch" it. I have to really watch him. Between trying to rip her tongue out and gagging her as he tries to get her to suck on his finger (something that he absolutely finds hilarious), it will be a miracle if she makes it to toddlerhood unscathed.

Her hair still insists on being hilariously uncontrollable. I have no idea when it will grow long enough to actually behave itself but I gotta say, I am in no hurry. I find it to be fabulous and reminiscent of her Aunt Mimi's hair.

Her sleeping habits (or lack thereof) are improving, though, there is still much to be desired. I think what I am finding to be the hardest thing is that there is just no rhyme or reason to her schedule. I am trying to establish some sort of routine but she is strong arming me. One night she will go down easy breezy and stay asleep for 6+ hours and the next night she will insist on staying up until midnight and waking up every 2 hours after that. I am handling it better than I was in the beginning but, oh how I long for a full nights sleep.

Two months has passed way too fast. I fall more and more in love with her everyday. I love how Noah loves her. To say that "Life is Good" is a monumental understatement!

I Just Melt

I am finally getting around to posting some of the pics my oh-so-talented SIL, Alisha, took of my kiddos. Prepare yourselves for the adorable overload.

Note:No children where harmed in the making of this photo.

My all time favorite!

This is her blessing gown. I absolutely love it. Doesn't she look gorgeous?

I adore this pic of Eden. Alisha captured her smile, her dimple, and her highlights all in one pic. I can't help but smile every time I look at it.

There were so many more that I love as well. Pay attention to my header over the next several weeks because I will be changing it often to showcase all the ones I love.

THANK YOU, ALISHA. I will be begging for more in a few months! Heehee.

So, the first 3 people to comment on this post will be the lucky ones. Good luck!

Basking With The Boys

Wasn't Saturday just the most beautiful day?! We just had to get out in it. We were going to go to Big Spring Park but Chris wanted to check out a park that he used to go to as a kid. I think it is called Brahan Spring Park, off of Drake. Anyway, I was thinking it was gonna be ghetto because of it's location so I was less that thrilled. But, it turned out to be pretty nice. Noah had a ton of fun feeding the ducks.

He also very much enjoyed partaking of the bird food, aka. wheat bread.

There is also a really nice playground area there that Noah just ran all over. His favorite was the slide. He went up and down countless times. He also loved the swing. I think this is the first time he has been on a swing by himself because you can't find these "baby" swings anywhere anymore. He just laughed and laughed, unless Daddy got a little excited and started to push him too high. Then he would clamp on for dear life and give a "save me!" expression.

Eden was snuggly secured to my chest with a blanket over her head. She wasn't much of a fan of the fabulous sunlight that we were all soaking up and it was really windy so I was afraid of the wind bothering her ears and taking her breath away.

Noah seems to be fully recovered from the many yuckies that have plagued him lately. He did so well sleeping in our bed, even for naps, that we decided to give his big boy bed a spin on Friday night. (Disclaimer:Pay no attention to the walls that still need to be finished and the fact that I am using a blanket hung up by thumb tacks as a curtain. I have a dream but an empty wallet, okay!)

He did great! He climbs right in, we read him a book or two, give kisses, and then he just rolls over and starts snoring. I kinda have mixed feelings about it. I have a love/hate relationship with this whole growin' up thing.

Sevens

So you all know the drill by now. Here is the 7th pic from the 7th folder.

I had forgotten about this. Noah was about a year old and I had asked Chris to get him dressed after a bath. Chris yelled down the hallway and asked where Noah's other sock was. I yelled back that I had set them out together and that he just needed to look around for it. Chris decided to be a smartalick and put one of his own socks on the poor boy. Do you see the bulge on the left side of his leg. Yep, that would be Noah's sock that was caught up in his pants leg. Typical Daddy.

Theres Been A Cave-In

So much for the light at the end of the tunnel. Noah didn't wake up until almost 10:00 this morning. He usually never sleeps past 8:00 so I started to get an ominous feeling. Sure enough, he woke up, I changed his diaper, and guess what I found...a rash covering his trunk and diaper area. What tha?! I called the doctor and she said he has Roseola. Basically you run a really high fever for up to a week and then when the fever breaks you bust out into a rash that can last a few hours or a whole week. Judging from his health over the past 3 weeks, (did I mention that he had just finished an antibiotic for sinus infection and double ear infections when he broke out in the fever last week?) I am anticipating the rash to last the entire week. It doesn't seem to be bothering him too bad though so I am trying to count my blessings. The best part is that we are going over to Alisha's tomorrow (he is not contagious at this point) to get pictures done. I just have to laugh when I think about it.

I will once again resume my search for that darn illusive light. Stinkin' tunnel.

If I Cock My Head And Squint Really Hard...

I think I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. For the 1st time in 5 days Noah woke up without a fever today. He is acting more like himself and, let me tell ya, I have MISSED him.

I have been having him sleep with us since I was having to check his temp so often and administer drugs as needed. I was willing to let him return to his own bed last night (remember my selfishness concerning my little slice of our bed) but Chris asked for one more night. He has really loved having Noah to snuggle. I must admit, I've kinda like it also.

And, to add to my euphoria, Eden slept 8 hrs straight last night!!! I was sleeping so hard that I didn't even realize it until I heard her at 6:30 this morning. I shot up out of bed all disoriented. I couldn't believe it. It felt SOOooOOOoOO good. I have had a little extra pep in my step today. Now, that being said, I am trying not to get my hopes up. Trying.

And The Award For Most Pathetic Goes To...

the Hozian Family, specifically Noah. He has been running a pretty high temp for about 3 days now. At one point last night it got up to 103.9. He has just been the saddest thing and it just kills me.

We have talked to several doctors and they all seem to think it is something viral so we are just trying to ride it out. Meanwhile, Eden still isn't sleeping great and I am checking her temp as often as I check Noah's just to be on the safe side. The stress of it all has caused my face to break out like that of a 13 year old boy. Not attractive, let me tell ya. Thank goodness this is all going down over the weekend and Chris is home to lend a hand. And, we couldn't have made it without Misty. She came over last night and stocked us up on much needed supplies like CapriSun (it is the only thing I can get Noah to drink) and popsicles. YOU'RE THE BEST MIMI!
Side note: Don't you just want to smooch this adorable face?!
