My Boy

I haven't posted a lot of pics of my boy lately so I wanted to fix that. I need to be better about recording the everyday happenings, not just the big moments.

Noah LOVES to dance. He dances when my cell phone rings, when a song plays on a commercial or someones blog, when I sing, etc. I tell him he needs to grow up to be a musician and make mommy lots of money! heehee.
My brother-in-law, Mike, and his wife, Ashley got Noah this piggy bank for Christmas and it plays music when you put a coin in. Noah figured out that if you just stick your fingers in the slot that the music will play. He would play with this pig all day long if you let him. Check out his moves.

Noah loves bath time. He and Chris get in there and play forever. It is great.

Check out his adorable sleepy eyes.

And lastly, Noah loves his Aunt Mimi. She came over on Wednesday and we went out to check out the snow. Noah wasn't that impressed with it.

I got a surprise from Chris yesterday. He got me an MP3 player. I am so excited. I have a ton of CD's that I only like 2-3 songs on them so I can put those songs on the MP3 player. He also got me this thing that will allow me to play the MP3 player thru the radio of my car. He's the best!

One last thing, check out my sidebar. I have a new section that is going to let you know how I am doing everyday on my Hot Momma goals.

Hot Momma Monday

Welcome to my 1st installment of HOT MOMMA MONDAY. I'm excited that so many of you have opted to join me in the quest of a healthier life (and a smaller booty!).

My purpose in extending an invite to others to join me is for us to share ideas, recipes, success, get support for an unmet goal, get encouragement, etc. What are your goals and how do you plan to get there? I thought maybe we could also get together occasionally for a picnic and a hike or a day at the pool. If anyone knows a nutritionist or a trainer maybe would could set up a class or something.

All of us have different, individual goals I am sure. We all have different equipment and different interests when it comes to working out. I love to read while I walk on the treadmill. I have gotten a book I have been wanting forever but I am not going to allow myself to read it unless I am on the treadmill. That is a little trick I learned from my sis, Misty. I am going to start a weight training program at home in an effort to tone as I shed pounds.

I am going to set up goals for myself and develop a reward system for goals met. This is something that I think will work for me. It will give me something to work for and something to look forward to. I am going to post MY goals and I would love to hear what you guys have in mind for yourselves.

As I mentioned before, my main goal is health but in order to reach that I need to lose some excess weight. I won't be telling you what I weigh now (horror!) but I will tell you that I would like to loose 30-35 lbs. I have also mentioned before my desire to get pregnant again this summer. It would be great to be able to lose that weight by the end of June but I am not going to make myself a prisoner to numbers. How much I weigh doesn't matter to me. I just want to feel better with my second pregnancy. I am going to take it a month at a time, work hard, and tweek anything that needs tweeking as I go along.

GOAL #1:Kim G. will be taking pictures of my entire family sometime at the end of April. My first goal is to lose 10 lbs by the end of April. From today, there are 10 weeks until the last Monday in April so that means I need to lose about a pound a week. Totally doable!
REWARD FOR GOAL #1: New outfit for pictures.
HOW I AM GOING TO REACH THIS GOAL: I am going to work out for an hour a day, 5 days a week. I already started this last week and it is totally doable for me. Right now I am walking on the treadmill. I have increased my speed and incline from last week. I eventually want to get into jogging but that is another goal! Next week I am going to incorporate weight training. I need to do a little more research on that but I will pass along any info I gather. I also purchased Bob Greene's book The Best Life Diet. I am not one to follow a set up diet every meal of every day but the book is helpful in helping me to understand how my body works and it has recipes and I will be using the diet as a guideline.

So, sit down TODAY and work out a plan that will work for you. Let us all know what you have in mind. I look forward to hearing of your plans and maybe stealing your ideas to incorporate into my plan. heehee.

When you hear from me next Monday I WILL be 1 LB LIGHTER and on my way to being a HOT MOMMA!

I Can't Believe It!!!!!!!!

Chris has Noah during Sunday School and Priesthood while I am in Primary. While I was teaching my lesson today Misty popped her head in and asked me to step out into the hall. When I stepped out I saw Chris and Noah and my mind immediately imagined the worst case scenarios. I quickly started to scan them both looking for blood so I missed what Chris said to me. When I found no traces of bodily harm I looked up at Chris and caught what he was trying to tell me. "Noah took his first steps"!!!!!!!! what?! I believe I called him a liar a few times in my complete shock. I promptly took Noah to try to make him reenact it for me and, sure enough, he took 4 steps toward me and then just stood there looking at me like, "Well, aren't you going to meet me half way?" I couldn't believe it.

I completely forgot about my primary class. Noah's cheeks were blood red from all of the kisses I heaped on them. I was happy, so excited, sad, and disappointed all at the same time. Happy and excited because you always are at these types of things. Disappointed because I wasn't there to see the VERY first steps and sad because HE IS MY BABY! I'm still in shock.

My Better Half

How long have you been together? 3 years
How long did you date? 3 months
How old is he? 27, two years younger than me
Who eats more? Chris definitely. He eats like a horse!
Who said "I love you" first? Chris did. We were hanging out at his house just watching TV and he looks at me and says, "You know I love you, right?"
Who is taller? Chris
Who sings better? Me, although Chris comes up with the most insane songs about the stupidest things. He makes me laugh so much.
Who is smarter? Chris, big time.
Who does the laundry? Me. I would fear for our clothes if Chris did the laundry.
Who does the dishes? Me, although I get him to unload the dishwasher whenever I can because I HATE unloading.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Chris, no particular reason.
Who pays the bills? Chris. I think he would have a heart attack from the anxiety if I was in charge of the bills.
Who mows the lawn? Both of us. I enjoy it.
Who cooks dinner? Me
Who is more stubborn? Definitely Chris. When he gets something in his head he is such a pain! But, if you give him some time to really think it out, he usually comes back a little bit later and we find a compromise.
Who kissed who first? Chris kissed me first. I had put him off for like a month, seriously. I just wasn't sure about him yet. We weren't dating exclusively at first and I went on a date with another guy. We went out to eat and then we were going to go to the YSA activity after dinner. The whole time I was on a date with this other guy I was thinking I wish we could hurry up and get to YSA so I can see Chris. I knew then that he had gotten in my head. A few days after that I told him about what I had been thinking on the date and he was so happy. Then, we SMOOCHED!
Who asked who out? He did. A large group of YSA had gone to the park and we were all standing around getting ready to go home. I noticed that Chris ran to his car. He came back with a piece of paper in his hand. He walked into the middle of the group of people and handed me the paper. It had his phone # on it. He said, " You should give me a call sometime." I was so shocked and slightly embarrassed because he did that in front of everyone. Well, I didn't call so a few days after that he called me and asked me out.
Who is more sensitive? me, Chris has his moments though
Who has more friends? probably me
Who has more siblings? me
Who wears the pants in the relationship? I think we are pretty even.
Who are you tagging? Everyone who wants to!

Weight Check

If you will remember, at the beginning of January, Noah was really sick. He lost 11 oz in 3 weeks and his doc was a little worried about it so we scheduled a weight check just to make sure he was back on track. Yesterday we went in and he had gained back exactly 11 oz so he is back up to 23 lbs and 9 oz. I thought it was funny that he gained back the exact amount that he lost. The doc was impressed with his motor skills and commented on what a happy baby he is. That always makes a mom feel good. He was flirting hard core with the ladies at the front desk, giving kisses, waving bye, bye, and bobbing his head to the side. He knows exactly what he is doing, little stinker!

After his appt we went to Old Navy because they are having a big sale on kids clothes. I usually only buy Noah Old Navy pants because they seem to fit him the best. The waist fits comfortably for him without the legs being a foot too long. Anyway, Noah made out like a bandit! I got him 2 pairs of jeans, a pair of denim cargo shorts, 2 polo shirts, swim trunks, swim shirt, a baseball cap, and aqua shoes, all for about $60. I went in with the intent of only getting him some jeans :P! But, I figured I would go ahead and get him what he is going to need for our trip to Destin in Oct. since everything was 40%off. I got them in size 18-24 mos so he should grow into them nicely. Here is a pic of him in his new swimsuit.

Chris and I were able to organize our "gym" this weekend. We are pretty excited because we both need to get in shape. We have a pretty good set up and now we have NO excuse for not taking better care of the temples that Heavenly Father has entrusted to us.

My mother-in-law gave us this treadmill and it is awesome. I love to read while I walk and Chris set it up where there is a TV in front of the treadmill as well.

I have decided that I am going to use and abuse my audience out there in the blogging universe. I need to lose weight and get in shape but I am the kind of person who needs accountability in the process. So, to that end, I am going to post my progress (or lack thereof) every Monday. Look for my Hot Momma Monday posts to start next Monday. Anyone care to join me?

Super Mommy Moment

Last night I was in the living room going over my primary lesson and Sharing Time for Sunday. Noah was crawling around playing with whatever he could get his hands on. I would look up every once in a while to check on him. I started to get engrossed in the lesson and the next thing I know Noah is coughing up a storm. I look over at him and he is eating DEODORANT!! I yelled, "Oh crap!" and Chris comes running out of the office. Little chunks of deodorant are all over the place and we had no idea of how much he actually ate. He was coughing and spitting it up. As I cleaned Noah up Chris called poison control. They told us to give him several ounces of water and monitor him over the next hour. For the next hour he continued to cough and I could tell that he was spitting it up a little but he kept swallowing it again. GROSS!! The poison control center called us back after an hour. We told them that he had been coughing and they told us to keep him up for another hour. We did and he stopped coughing. After another hour they called again and told us that we could now put him to bed. It was 10:30 by that time and he had BEEN ready to go to sleep. I felt like such a horrible mother. I don't even know how the deodorant got in the living room in the first place. I was just waiting for Chris to say something about how we need to be more careful, like I didn't already feel bad enough. But, he was smart and didn't say anything. I went in several times during the night to make sure that Noah was okay. He seems to be fine today but I still feel horrible.

On a lighter note, I took this video a couple of days ago. We were all back in our room just hanging out and playing around. Chris started tickling Noah and after a little bit I ran to get the camera. You can tell how out of breath Noah is at the
end because by this point he had been laughing for a good while.

This and That

It has been forever since I have had a chance to blog. I shouldn't be doing it now because Noah is (finally!) down for a nap and I should be using this opportunity to organize my new pantry but, OH WELL! Bare with me while I try to catch up on the goings on at the Hozian house.

I spent the majority of January either packing or unpacking. Have I mentioned my loath of moving?! No? Well, let me tell you, I hate it. I know hate is a strong word but, truth be told, it isn't strong enough to describe my feelings about the whole moving process. Urg! After months of going back and forth working on both houses we finally moved. A HUGE THANK YOU! to all the family that came out and lent their muscles to the moving effort. No one got hurt and nothing got broken so the move was pretty successful.

We started the new year in our new ward, Winchester. This is the ward I grew up in so it was like coming home for me. I made it to week 2 before receiving a calling. I was called as a primary worker teaching the Valiant 11/12 class. Making it to week 2 is an improvement over when we moved to Sparkman ward. I received a calling the 1st Sunday we attended. I'm very popular. Of course, the calling to primary could have something to do with the fact that my sister, M, is the secretary in the primary and told her pres. 3 months ago that I would be coming to the ward. Thanks, M. It is kind of cool because several of the kids in my class I taught when I was in the ward years ago. I think they were 5/6 yrs old at the time. But, let me tell ya, 40 minutes is a lot of time when your lesson is only 2-3 pages long. Have any of you taught in senior primary before? Or do any of you have kids in senior primary who's teachers you particularly love? I could use any and all ideas or suggestions.

Noah was really sick at the beginning of the month. I took him in and turns out he had an upper respiratory infection. He had to be on antibiotics for 10 days. Luckily he thought the medicine was yummy and actually got ticked when his dose was all gone. Gotta love a pharmacist who flavors kids medicines! I took him in 3 weeks later for his 9 mos checkup and, for the 1st time since leaving the hospital when he was born, Noah LOST weight. He lost 11oz in 3 weeks. The doc said she wasn't too concerned about it but that it was kind of a lot of weight to loose in such a short time. So we have to go in again in a few weeks for a weight check. I never thought I would ever hear the words "weight check" for my chunky boy. For heavens sake, he still weighs more than my sister, M's, 2 year old little girl! Crazy!

I set some goals this year to improve my overall self. I set some spiritual goals and some physical goals. So far, the spiritual goals (stuff like reading the Ensign every month, reading the Sunday school and RS lessons, etc.) are going pretty well. My physical goals are another matter. I tell myself that it has just been so hectic with the move that that is why I am not getting off my behind but, that is bull. So, in front of all of you, I RE-dedicate myself to getting in shape this year. One of my goals is to look smoking (or at the very least, a little steamy) by April because that is tentatively when Kim Greenfield is gonna take on photographing the entire Mayfield clan. She's a brave gal.

My other motive for wanting to get in shape is because I am craving another baby like crazy! Is that normal when I still have a baby?! Seeing my newest niece, Kenadie, has just made me baby crazy even more. But, I was carrying extra weight before I got pregnant with Noah and I could feel it all through the pregnancy. I want to be healthier this time around.

I think I may have FINALLY figured out how to post a video with the help of Jessica. Thanks Jessica! Here are a few that I have had in reserve. Prepare yourselves for a smack in the face of extreme cuteness!

This 1st video was taken on Nov 15. It is of Noah crawling for the 1st time. I bribed him with my cell phone, which I promptly took away after he worked so hard to get it. So mean. Plz excuse my annoying commentary.

This one is Noah in the tub. He has graduated up to the big boy tub and you will see why from this video.

This last one is of my boy WALKING! Okay, before you get too excited, he is walking with the aid of his happy hippo. I couldn't figure out how to rotate it so everyone bob your head to the left!

And lastly, yesterday was our 3 yr wedding anniversary. As I mentioned before, we really only celebrate our sealing anniversary but Chris did make me a card that I flipped over. If you look closely you can see the + signs and = signs in between the pictures and it will make sense.

Isn't he the sweetest?!

Life is good!

Help Wanted

Okay, I need help. How can I get a video I took on my digital camera onto my blog? I got the video onto my computer and into my Picasa photo editing program. Then I clicked on the Add Video icon and it pulled it up. But, when I view my blog I get nothing. Plz help because I have some crazy adorable video of my boy that I want to share but can't get the thing to work. Can you tell I'm a wee bit frustrated?!

PS. I have been such a loser blogger over the last month, I know. I have a ton to catch up on so a marathon post will follow in the next couple of days, hopefully with a video Noah attached!
