Rude Awakening

I checked my email this morning and I had an email from my mother informing me that Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley passed away last night. I immediately started to cry. He became president when I was in high school so he was the 1st president that I really listened to. We have all known this day was coming but for some reason it still shocked me so much. I am so sad.



My favorite talk of all time is a talk he gave entitled "The Women in Our Lives". It was a talk he gave the conference after his wife passed away. I remember hearing him and my heart just breaking for him. I wasn't married at the time but I remember wanting desperately to be the kind of wife that would inspire such beautiful thoughts. I fall shamefully short so often but I never give up hope that I can be better. He did that for me. I am comforted by the knowledge that he is with her again.

Everyone should visit the church's website. There are several articles on him that are really good. Also, look up the article I mentioned. You will love it. (I tried to get it to link but for some reason I couldn't get it to work.) He gave it in the Oct. 2004 conference.

One of Those Days

Today was the kind of day that you wish you could have just stayed in bed with a good book.

I have been spit up on twice and pooped on once...so far. Noah and I have both gone through 3 changes of clothes. I had a million errands to run and car repairs that needed taking care of. And, on top of it all, stressing about my house because some people were coming to take a looksy today. My bed and the new book I bought at Costco beckon to me but Noah's bedtime isn't for 2-3 more hours.

Here's to hoping tomorrow is better!

It is time to secure my cabinet doors. I was in the kitchen today fixing a quick lunch and Noah followed me in there. He promptly opened one of my cabinets and took out my mixing bowls and had himself a good ole time. He stayed entertained with them for like 45 minutes. None of his brand spankin new Christmas presents hold his attention that long.

2007 In a Nutshell

I am a few days late on my New Years post but I have been dealing with a sick baby, AGAIN! The last 1 1/2 months have been rough for the Hozian family. We have been battling one sickness after another. So, hopefully the new year will bring better health.

Here is a rundown of our year.

Chris' dad moved in with us at the beginning of the year. He had moved back from Mexico and needed a place to crash to regroup and find a job.

Feb. 4th marked our 2 yr anniversary. I stopped working at the end of February in anticipation of Noah's arrival in April. I spent March sitting in the recliner in the nursery with my ginormous feet elivated. My sisters and mom came over at the end of March and helped me decorate the nursery. I love the way it turned out and I will be sad to leave it when we move.


The biggest event of the year happened at the beginning of April. Noah came into the world after a very exhausting labor. He was 7 lbs 13 oz and 20 1/2 inches long. He had a head full of dark hair and he was perfect. He was jaundice and when he was 2 weeks old he had to go thru 3 days of light therapy to help with the jaundice. It was really hard to not be able to hold my baby for that long.



In June my father-in-law found a great job that he enjoys and was able to get a place of his very own. We enjoy our Sunday visits to Grandpa's house.

In July my family had our annual reunion. We rented a couple of houses on Weiss Lake and had a great time. It was Noah's 1st experience with a large body of water and he was unimpressed. There were some great antique stores around there and all of us girls made out like bandits. It was great.


Sept. 17th marked our 2 yr sealing anniversary which is the anniversary that we actually celebrate because that is when our marriage really started.

In October we went to the beach. Noah was, again, unimpressed with the water. I missed Chris like crazy but we had a good time. Noah was the most adorable Harry Potter for Halloween. Chris and I enjoyed the candy that we shamelessly took Noah around collecting. We also went to Tate Farms with some family and friends. It was insanely cold that day but we all had a good time. We bought a pumpkin but never actually got around to carving it.




Thanksgiving was really great this year. Alisha and the girls made these really cute turkeys using the girls hands that had everyones name on it and marked where you sat. I made Carden make one for Noah because they were so cute. We all ate way too much and enjoyed every minute of it.

December was an eventful month. Both Chris and I had a birthday. We got to go to T's 1st birthday party. Noah was spoiled rotten at Christmas by us and his Grandma. And we all passed around one sickness after another.


It was a great year with lots of memories. I am really looking forward to 2008. I am excited to celebrate Noah's 1st birthday. Chris and I have discussed trying to get pregnant again by the end of next year. Chris is looking forward to progressing in his job. I will continue to endeavor to keep my sanity when I only have an infant to talk to most of the time. It's gonna be a great year!
