So Thats What This Stuff Is For!

Don't have a pic to go along with this story (darn!) but I had to post this because Noah will definitely get a kick out of this when he gets older.

Noah has had a runny nose for about a week now. Its this really annoying constant drip. But, tonight he discovered a helpful use for the slim, namely, it makes sliding your fingers in and out of your nose much easier. I was sitting on the couch and he walks up to me with his pudgy little finger stuck WAY to far up his nose. I say, "Gross, son!", and pull it out. Apparently, that somehow translated into a game. He would stick one finger up his nose, I would do the obligatory squeal and pull it out, then he would stick another finger up his nose, and so on. Until he surprised himself with the grand finale. He figured out that he could stick 2 fingers in AT THE SAME TIME. With the squeal of excitement that rattled my windows you would have thought he just won a million dollars. I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants (hey, don't judge! I've had a baby!). With the amount of in and out his poor little nostrils took tonight, I am going to have to keep a serious lookout for any other foreign objects that may find their way up there. Sigh.

Repenting...again

I have been a seriously loser mother the past couple of months. I downloaded all the pics off of my camera and I only have 8 pictures from Noah's 1st B-day until now. He has grown so much and is doing so many new things and I haven't recorded any of it. Grr!! So, henceforth, I am repenting of my evil ways and vow to do better. Hopefully.

I took these pics a few weeks ago. I love the relationship these two have. Noah gets so insanely excited when he hears Chris unlocking the door when he comes home from work. Chris has had to get in the habit of opening the front door VERY slowly in order to not knock Noah out. Noah LOVES to wake Daddy up on the weekends. His favorite thing is to sit on Chris's head and bounce up and down. What a way to start the day.

Chris's mom bought Noah a really nice wagon a couple of months ago. He LOVES it but unfortunately we haven't gotten a lot of use out of it so far because I wasn't feeling great. But, I have been pulling it into the living room and he will crawl in and out of it for hours. He loves to open and close the door on it. One day, I decided to make him a clubhouse out of the ginormous box it came in. He LOVED it. He played in that thing for days until it almost completely fell apart.

Noah's newest obsession is shoes. He will put on mine and Chris's shoes and laboriously walk all over the house. I took this pic just a few days ago. I thought his dad would really appreciate it.

He has added a few other words to his vocabulary, even if he has only said them once and refuses to say them again. He has said nose, cheese, and amen. I am really working on the amen but so far all I have been able to get is "Aaaaaaa". Oh well, close enough for now.

As for news on Peanut (aka. Baby #2), all is well so far. My doc was a little concerned about the heartbeat at the 1st ultrasound so I had another one a few weeks later and he said everything appeared to be fine but that they would keep an eye on it over the next few weeks. A little stressful, but I am trying not to worry too much about it. I am due Jan 9th but, of course, Chris is hoping for a December baby for the tax break. That's my Chris. I am not looking forward to ringing in my 30th B-day being 9 months pregnant but, oh well.

Life is good!

Enough To Get Me Off My Duff

I have been such a loser mommy for the last month. This pregnancy has been WAY tougher then Noah's so I have spent the last month curled on my couch in the fetal position or hugging my toilet. Not fun. But, I think I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel because I have felt ALMOST human this week. Sigh.

But, a specific event that happened today was enough to finally give me the extra boost I needed to get back to blogging. What monumental event could it be, you ask? NOAH SAID HIS FIRST WORD!!! Now, he has said "mamamamama" and "dadadada" and you can tell he knows that means us but I count today's word as his first "real" word. And that word was......NOSE!!!! Misty was holding him and he started to honk her nose and said, plain as day, NOSE. I sat straight up in my chair and looked at Dawn for confirmation that I did, indeed, just hear what I thought I heard. Her look of astonishment was all the confirmation I needed. So, like good mommies, all three of us girls flipped out and started trying desperately to get him to say it again, to no avail. I called Chris on our way home and told him about it and when we got home he tried, to no avail, to get him to say it too. Little stinker! What a random 1st word but thats Noah for ya.

Mother's Day Loot

My hubby and Noah were really good to me this year. Chris got me these from Pottery Barn. I love them! I have them hanging in the corner of my dining room over my corner chair. It looks so great.

Noah got me this Willow Tree figurine. I think it looks exactly like us.

I got a card that made me feel great and Chris gave me the entire day off from diaper changing. Ah, the goodness!

Treasuring the Doing

My conference issue of the Ensign came last week. I was so excited because I wanted to reread the article by Elder Ballard about mothers. It was as great as I remember. I have really been trying to take Anna Quindlen's advice and "{treasure} the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less". I'd like to share a few of my treasured moments from the past week.

I have a pic of Chris and I set up in a corner in our living room. I have been "training" Noah to not touch it. He has been pretty good so far but he tests the boundaries now and again. A few days ago he walked up to it and I immediately said, "No, no Noah." He looked at me and smiled, which I took to mean, "But I'm so cute. Can't I touch it this once?" I gave him my stern face and told him no again. He started to walk away but then turned back. I let out a big sigh and got up to remove him from the temptation but before I could get to him he took me totally by surprise. He bent down and placed a tender kiss right on Chris's face in the picture and then turned around and walked away. I stood there staring after him with my jaw on the floor and tears in my eyes. Amazing.

Noah and I were in the back yard a few days ago. I was reading the Ensign and he was exploring. I was reading the article I mentioned above and feeling all kinds of warm fuzzies about my life. I looked up and Noah was sitting in my flower bed with a plastic flower pot. He was picking up handfuls of mulch and putting it in the pot. When he had a satisfactory amount, he would proceed to dump it on his legs. He looked at me with dark brown drool rolling down his chin and he just grinned from ear to ear. Then he threw me a little wave and went back to bathing himself in mulch. I thought to myself, "I must be doing something right because my boy is happy!

Noah is suffering big time with double ear infections, a sinus infection and cutting 3 molars all at the same time. Can you imagine? Well, he woke up screaming his head off about 30 minutes after I put him to bed for the night. I tried to calm him down for about 10 minutes but he just kept getting more and more hysterical. As I was on the verge of tears myself I remembered, I have a priesthood holder in the house. I yelled for Chris and he petitioned the Lord to comfort our baby. Very shortly after the blessing Noah calmed down and just laid there limp. He was so exhausted. I am so thankful for the priesthood and a man who does his best to be worthy to use it at a moments notice. What a blessing.

My life is way too good to not appreciate each and every moment.

Gonna Make It Thru?

Sick baby. Only got 4 hours of sleep last night. Baby only taken 30 min nap. Just long enough for me to fall asleep, only to be woken up again. So tired. So very tired.
